Most commonly, the marketing mix is also known as the “Four P’s” to marketing, referring to Product, Price, Place (distribution), and Promotion. The overall goal of the four p’s is to effectively identify the target market. The marketing mix is also very useful for understanding the fundamentals of a proper marketing campaign. Proper identification of all four elements can help build a strong foundation for the overall marketing plan.
Think of the marketing mix as the basic ingredients of making a cookie. Every cookie needs flour, butter, baking powder, and sugar. My cookies usually contain chocolate chips, but for explanations sake we can leave them out. You need all these ingredients to make an edible cookie. Just baking a cookie, the marketing mix needs product, price, place, and promotion helps you create the ideal target market.
